  56. HI guys, I have an Alinco DR-592 that I modified by cutting to red and
  57. blue wires in the control head.  I can now switch to aircraft freqs. but
  58. cannot hear anything.  I've listened on another radio at same freqs. when
  59. there was activity, so I know it was the Alinco that was not recieving. 
  60. HAs anyone else done this mod, and has it worked?

  144. I did the extended RF mod (remove R414) on my Kenwood TM-733 yesterday
  145. and it works great.  Will tx from 136 - 174, and about 415 - 465.

  147. The design engineers at Kenwood REALLY have a sence of humor.  When 
  148. resetting the CPU after the mod the radio plays a little musical jingle!

  172. Until recently, it certainly looked like the Yaesu FT-530 was the one
  173. to beat.  But I think if I were going to buy a dual-bander today, (and
  174. indeed, I have been thinking about it :-) I think I'd go with the new
  175. Kenwood TH-79A.  Frankly, the alphanumeric display, which lets you
  176. program in names for the frequencies in the memories looks like a
  177. real winner.  Too, I think I've always thought the Kenwoods have had
  178. somewhat nicer cosmetic design.  Price of a 79A should be in the same
  179. ballpark (maybe +$25) as the other units you're considering if you
  180. shop carefully.

  197. nicer than the 530 but that is all.  The ICOM has terrible audio on
  198. receive (due to the lack of speaker), the buttons are too small to hit one

  200. built-in night light, the small antenna is next to a dummy load.

  235. Do they still use the 26.620 SSB anymore? Pennsylvania gave it up almost
  236. entirely years ago. FM HT's have teeny weeny antennas; 11m radios had long
  237. ugly ones which tended to break when you were walking through the woods.
